The long history of Lions battling against blindness has many exciting and poignant chapters. The story started with Helen Keller’s dramatic appeal to Lions to become “Knights of the Blind.” Pioneering the white cane as a symbol of independence for blind people was an early highlight. Establishing camps for blind children, regional eye banks and supporting dog guide schools enriched the story.North Dakota Lions are an active supporter of

ND Lions sit on the Executive Board of Directors as well
as serve on the full Board of Directors.
When students are training with a dog at the school...they stay on site in one of the two apartments.
The North Star Lions from Bismarck have been active at the school for the past several years. In 2008, the club decided to take over the renovation and furnishing of one of the apartments.
Lions Memorial ParkConstruction of the Lion’s Memorial Park began on May 13th, 2006. Labor for the
project was provided by volunteers including Lions members from across
North Dakota.
The park provides a restful place for staff, dogs and families to walk, picnic and for guests to park an RV for an overnight stay...

The North Star Lions of Bismarck pledged $1000 to the lions park project at the 2005 North Dakota Lions Convention. This was under the contingency that another club(s) surpassed this pledge
The South Forks Lions rose to the occasion by hand delivering an oversized check for $1001.
